Judicial Review

Judicial Review is a type of court procedure available to people who wish to contest the decisions or actions of public bodies exercising powers conferred by public law. These include, in certain circumstances, local authorities, Government Departments, the District and Circuit Courts, and semi-state bodies.

The grounds on which these decisions can be challenged include circumstances where the body in question has exceeded its authority, or if fair procedures have not been followed, or if reasons have not been given for a particular decision, or if the decision or action does not fall within the ?reasonableness? test.
